No Spot bookings from January 10th

In preparation for the auspicious Makaravilakku festival at the Lord Ayyappa Temple in Sabarimala, the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB), the governing body overseeing the shrine, announced on January 2 its decision to regulate spot bookings for darshan.

Anticipating a significant influx of devotees on this occasion, TDB officials confirmed that spot bookings for pilgrims will be discontinued from January 10.

Additionally, virtual queue bookings are restricted to 40,000 on January 15, the day of the Makaravilakku.

TDB President P S Prashanth emphasized that these measures are implemented to ensure a smooth and safe darshan experience, preventing overcrowding at the Sannidhanam, the temple complex. The choice to suspend spot bookings from January 10 was prompted by the escalating number of pilgrims making their way to the hill shrine.
